JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) is the hot new lingua franca of our connected world. Douglas Crockford "discovered" it in 2001 and it has continued to gain popularity in our web-driven society. SQL Server 2016 has added new functionality to natively work with this increasingly important data exchange format. We will take a look at what JSON is, how to validate it, the querying support that has been added to T-SQL, and how you can export the results of your queries as JSON documents. You can also store JSON in SQL Server columns and query against it - even using an index! Come learn how easy it can be to work with JSON data inside your database.
